Courses @ Equicode
3.5 day courses bespoke to you and your horse
In 2024, I teamed up with a long-term Ride with your Mind colleague, Lynda Davey and Norfolk based bodyworker Kate Thornton to create these 3.5 day courses, which are very much tailored around the participants and their horses. For this reason, we limit each course to 6 people, to ensure each horse-human partnership receives an experience which is bespoke to the stage of their individual journey.

Between the three of us, we have a combined 55 years of equine experience. Lynda and I are both accredited Ride with your Mind coaches, following the principles and techniques created by world-renowned Mary Wanless. Kate is a full member of IAAT (International Association of Animal Therapists).

Our courses include a variety of different activities as a foundation to work upon, but during the first evening, each participant has a one-to-one style chat with us to discuss their individual aims, concerns, hopes and what they would like to get from the course.
During Your Stay
Discover the biomechanics of horse and rider
Learn about the effects of posture and energy on your
horse's movement
Encourage correct gymnastic development through empathetic riding and handling
Develop clear and consistent training methods
Example Timetable
In 2024, we've hosted three courses, and are establishing what works best for participants and their horses in terms of a timetable for the days that you are with us. The following is an outline of what will be included;
Thursday Afternoon/Evening
Settle your horse in and meet the other course participants.
There will be a classroom-based workshop to introduce you to the concept of RWYM. You will be able to discuss your goals further with the coaches and Kate will introduce you to some considerations about the equine body.
Friday
You will have an individual hour’s lessons with either Lynda or Nicky. The content will be tailored to you and your horses’ individual needs. During your first lesson, Kate will provide a dynamic assessment of how your horse moves, and feed back to you and the coaches.
After lunch, you will have an hour’s group (no more than 3) lesson with both coaches, this can be tailored to your choice and include groundwork, pole work, or consolidation of the mornings learning with a continuation of your flatwork.
During the day, whilst you aren't taking part in lessons with Lynda or Nicky, Kate will offer activities and/or discussions surrounding your horse's musculoskeletal wellbeing.
The day will conclude with a themed practical workshop.

In the evenings, you can relax and enjoy a swim, use the games room or just chill out in the barn.
Saturday
The day will run the same as Friday - you will swap coaches for your individual lesson in the knowledge that there will be a plan to build on the previous days learning.
Sunday
To consolidate the course, Sunday will provide an opportunity for Nicky, Lynda and Kate to be present with you in the arena, each offering individual support. Kate will provide a dynamic assessment of how your horse is moving following the possible changes that have taken place in your biomechanical relationship with your horse. Lynda and Nicky will be there to further enhance your learning, help you with any remaining questions and be on hand whilst you practice some of the things that you have been working on throughout the course. This is a great opportunity for you to realise your achievements!
You will also have the opportunity to have your horse weighed, body condition scored and discuss a feeding and nutrition programme with Kate Morgan, an independent adviser and owner of Equiweigh.
Sunday morning’s session will be followed by lunch and a wash-up workshop before you head home.
If you have the inclination and want to have a little hack out we can walk out down some quiet country lanes and in about 25 minutes be at the local pub where the horses can play in the river
